Blue gold: a journey discovering water, the most precious good for humanity.
An interdisciplinary pathway about water c/o ENAIP Vocational Training Centers in the Lombardy Region.

The course is addressed to each class group of all ENAIP centers and consists of an interactive workshop, which makes students 'travel' across 5 virtual water rooms. There they will be guided - through various stimuli and ideas - to reflect on water and its multifaceted aspects. The rooms are the following:
  • Drinking water: practical exercises and activities in order to interrogate students on the quality of the water we drink and on the environmental impact of our choices

  • Water in the world: understanding the distribution of water in the world, the access to water and possible solutions to its lack, questionnaires and documentaries

  • Our consumption: group activities to discover not only how much water we use in our homes but also how much water we need to produce what we eat and the products we use

  • Water in communication: advertising, videos, graphic animations and public service announcements shall stimulate the creation and production of radio spots on water

  • Science and water: students shall carry out some practical experiments to understand some physical and chemical properties of water

Problems to solve

The idea of a series of activities entirely devoted to the topic of water stems from the awareness of how much important may be the role of training agencies – in particular schools – in the development of knowledge, analysis processes, reflection and consciousness raising on the subject of water, as a precious good for humanity and a universal right.

Moreover it also comes from the belief that having correct and environmentally friendly behaviors passes through good educational practices and that stimulating exchange, discussions and the opening of the school to the outside world constitute the essential basis for active learning pathways, a real critical growth and the promotion of participatory citizenship actions.
