Sponsorships are one of the most consolidated practices by which companies cooperate with NGOs. Generally a sponsorship consists in an agreement in which visibility is given in exchange for a commitment to fund an institution or an event.

For example, a company may provide materials it produces or fund the purchase of a product on which to place its logo, or support a specific initiative that can attract the attention of an interesting target for the company.

Sponsoring the purchase of goods or the realization of tangible and visible initiatives is able to produce maximum return to the initiative because it makes concrete and tangible the contribution sent and the effect generated by the support.

Cause related marketing

cause related mktCause related marketing is today a variable of mixed marketing which is broadly used and of great effectiveness.


A research by "Business in the Community" (http://www.bitc.org.uk/) revealed that:


• More than 70% of CEOs, Marketing Directors and Public Relations Directors are convinced that CRM will increase its relevance in the achievements of corporate objectives;
• 75% believe that CRM can improve the reputation of the company or brand;
• 86% of consumers will choose, from products of equal price and quality, those companies or brands that are associated with a "cause";
• 90% of respondents had heard about CRM activities, 65% has actively participated in one of these;
• 75% have changed brand, tried a new brand or purchased more of the product;

 

ACRA and Monte dei Paschi di Siena

 

1472   What do an aid project, the oldest bank in the world and a number have in common?


Welcome to 1472, the Monte dei Paschi di Siena project exclusively on 1472.it from March 7, 2011! 1472 is a number, but also a symbol, a space where one can talk of fashion, food and wine, territory, talent, solidarity. An image symbolic of the prestigious history of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank starting from the year of its foundation. 1472 inspired an idea and a website where you can find the Tenimenti MPS wine (Chianti pdo, Chianti Classico and Toscana rgi) and the first fashion collection to be produced by a bank and designed exclusively by JAGGY: sweatshirts, polo shirts and t-shirt presented at Milan's Fashion Week.


1472 is above all responsibility, social values, solidarity: 10% of the proceeds from sales of the collection will be donated to initiatives of solidarity in support of the right of access to water, supporting ACRA's program that was launched in 2008 in the Casamance, in southern Senegal, which aims to supply drinking water to around 70 thousand people by 2015, with a financial commitment of around 9.2 million euro. On top of this, around 300,000 euro have been raised amongst Monte dei Paschi di Siena's customers and account holders through its ATMs.

Partnership, why?

There are various tax concessions for companies who decide to establish a partnership with ACRA:


I. Donations in cash:

Taxpayers in Italy can deduct all donations to an ONLUS (non-profit organization of social utility), from their income for an amount of up to 10% of the total annual income declared and anyway not in excess of 70,000 euro a year.
(art. 14 par. 1 of Law 80 of 14/05/2005)
OR
Deduct the donations to a non-profit organization for an amount not in excess of 2,065.83 euro or 2% of the declared business income
(art. 100 par. 2 lett. h of Italian Pres. Decr. 917/86)


II. Donations in kind:

Taxpayers in Italy can deduct all donations to an ONLUS (non-profit organization of social utility), from their income for an amount of up to 10% of the total annual income declared and anyway not in excess of 70,000 euro a year.
(art. 14 par. 1 of Law 80 of 14/05/2005)
OR
deduct the donations to a non-profit organization, the specific total cost of which does not exceed 1,032.91 €, for amounts up to 2,065.83 Euro or 2% of the declared business income.
(art. 13 comma 3 of Italian Pres. Decr. 460/97)
For the donation in food and pharmaceuticals from companies directly involved in the production or trade of said products, there is no restriction in cost.
(art. 13 comma 2 of Italian Pres. Decr. 460/97)


III. Corporate volunteers:

All costs relative to the use of employees, whether under permanent or temporary contract, in services provided to an ONLUS are deductible within the limit of 5/1000 of the overall costs for employee services, as resulting in the tax declaration.
(Italian Pres. Decr. 917/1986, art. 100, par. 2 lett. i)

Tax concessions applicable to donations in cash by individuals.


V. Sponsorships:

Costs sustained by the company are to be considered entirely deductible from the income as costs pertaining to a particular sales technique.
(Resolution n. 356 of 14 November 2002 – Italian Pres. Decr. 917/86, article 75 par. 5)

 

VI. Cause Related Marketing:

Starting from the assumption that the Cause Related Marketing contract should be assimilated to a sponsorship contract, the costs paid by the company for CRM campaigns are to be considered entirely deductible as costs pertaining to a particular sales technique.
