Bolivia

Officially ACRA is in Bolivia since 1985. The main needs ACRA tries to meet are mainly related to access to health and natural resource management - often not sustainable and achieved without the participation of local people - trying to reduce the marginalization of local producers in market access and encouraging their participation in the creation of added value in the production chain (llama, Amazonian nut, coffee, milk).

Currently ACRA is working for water infrastructures and models of community self-management, environmental education, development of the llama productive chain and support to the OECAs (Peasant Economic Organizations.) In the last years ACRA has also worked in rural electrification, supporting the productive chain of Amazonian nut and coffee, dairy farming activities and supporting higher education.

ACRA has worked in six out of nine departments, with particular intensity in those of La Paz, Potosí and Pando.

The methodology of ACRA in Bolivia has always aimed at strengthening the capacity for self-management and appropriate use of resources.

At the production level, ACRA tried to increase the participation of small producers at different stages of value creation, facilitating the commercialization of processed products rather than raw materials.

ACRA project partners in Bolivia are essentially grassroots community organizations (committees and trade unions,) OECAs and Municipalities. At different levels ACRA converses and builds relations with government agencies: Ministries, superintendents and other realities of civil society (NGOs and local networks representing grassroots organizations active in the areas of intervention).
