Educare secondo ACRA

ACRA's approach is based upon the European definition of development education given by the Development Education Forum of CONCORD as a process of active learning, founded on values of solidarity, equality, inclusion and cooperation, which - through understanding of the causes and the effects of global phenomena - makes people capable of going beyond the mere knowledge of sustainable human development priorities.

Development education fosters the full participation of all citizens in the fight against poverty and exclusion with the personal involvement and informed actions. Development education also means to put pressure on governments in order to achieve more fair and sustainable national and international economic, social and environmental policies.

Within this framework, ACRA commitment in Development Education is based on assumptions and values transverse to the different areas of intervention:

Networking with other associations, NGOs and institutions allows ACRA to grow both in terms of thematic skills and of good relations, making the exchange and comparison a unique source of learning and improvement. In Italy ACRA participates in various thematic discussion tables on education, water and food sovereignty.

The development education sector defines and manages both the planning of development education activities in the territory and the initiatives of advocacy and lobbying.

It ensures the participation of ACRA in thematic networks at local, Italian and European level, supports campaign management, implements educational activities in schools, finalizes and implements development education projects with reflections in the Italian, European and developing countries territory.
