Honduras

The presence of ACRA in the country dates back to 2008 with the completion of three projects on Food Security and Nutrition in the municipalities of Yarula, Santa Elena and Marcala - which have a human development index well below the national average.

The strategic lines of ACRA intervention in the area are primarily intended to improve safe drinking water systems through infrastructure projects to enhance quality, availability and access for future users. Secondly they aim to strengthen the integrated management of natural resources by local actors - even through communication campaigns with emphasis on environmental protection. Finally, ACRA aims to work for the dissemination of good management practices and sustainable production of natural resources through conservation and protection activities, increasing efficient and sustainable production and creating educational programs that enhance the project experiences.

These strategies are being implemented in close collaboration with local institutions, representing the local partners. In addition, ACRA actions - intended for the general population - want to focus on women and youth as priority groups to ensure a multiplier effect and strengthening future generations, particularly as regards the activities of education, awareness and adoption of good manufacturing practices.
